The Sarasota Millionaires have named former Tampa Bay Buccaneer Robert "Pig" Goff as their new Strength and Conditioning coach. Goff is the second former NFL’er to join the Millionaires coaching staff. Former Houston Oiler standout Ernest Givins was named the team’s head coach earlier this season. Goff, who played for the Bucs, New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings, graduated from Bayshore High School in nearby Bradenton, FL. He was a guest speaker last season addressing the team on motivation, dedication and preparation.“The Millionaires organization is honored to have Goff join their program and knows with his experience and wealth of knowledge he will be a great asset to the Millionaires organization”, said owner Bethsaida Williams.“Pig” Goff was one of the first to bring Minor League Football to the Sarasota /Bradenton area when he created the Palmetto Hogs. Goff played at Bayshore as a 220-pound defensive lineman. Despite the Bruins finishing with a 3-7 record, he was still recruited by several schools. He attended Butler County Community College in Kansas for two years, where he was named to the Junior College All-America team. He then signed with Kansas, but transferred to Auburn and had to sit out a season in two seasons at Auburn Goff had 81 tackles, including six sacks and 10 tackles for losses as he grew into a 265-pound frame. Not sure if he would be drafted, Goff was surprised that the Tampa Bay Bucs selected him in the fourth round of the 1988 NFL draft. He blossomed in the NFL, spending nine years in the league. He spent two seasons with Tampa, six with New Orleans and one with Minnesota. Goff scored two TDs on fumble returns for New Orleans in 1992. He also played four years in the Arena Football League.Today Goff lives in Bradenton and works as a personal trainer. He has also been involved in coaching at the high school and minor league football levels.
